Why did you decide?
Netflix says that this decision has been taken given the increasing competition in India and the demand for digital content. The company is facing tough competition from Disney+ Hotstar, Amazon Prime and many other Indian subscription videos on demand (SVOD) companies. Given this, the company has decided to cut the price of all its plans. On the other hand, the increased prices of Amazon Prime have come into effect from today.
Plan Cheaper Than Amazon Prime
Netflix has named the new plans as 'Happy New Prices' and will be applicable from December 14. The price of the company's popular mobile plan has now come down from Rs 199 to Rs 149. It is cheaper than Amazon price. Amazon Prime's monthly plan has become Rs 179 from today. Earlier it was Rs 129 but the company has increased it by Rs 50. The annual subscription to Disney Plus Hotstar's premium services is Rs 1499. The company's Disney + Hotstar mobile subscription is priced at Rs 499.
Netflix started its services in India in the year 2016. The company's entry-level plan will now be available for Rs 149 instead of Rs 199. Netflix launched a monthly plan of Rs 199 in July 2019. In this, users can watch movies and web series in standard definition i.e. SD on the same mobile, tablet, computer or television screen at a time.
Amazon had Increased the Price
Similarly, the price of the mid-level plan of the company has come down from Rs 649 to Rs 499. In this, movies and web series can be seen in HD. The price of Netflix's premium plan has now been reduced from Rs 799 to Rs 649. In this, users will be able to watch videos in Ultra High-Definition i.e. Ultra HD.
Amazon Prime recently increased the price of its plans, which have come into effect from today. The company has increased the price of all the plans by 20 to 50 per cent. Now the company's one month plan has been priced at Rs 179. Similarly, the three-month plan costs Rs 459 and the one-year membership plan costs Rs 1,499.
